I used to get so livid reading passive aggressive Yelp reviews. I hated how much power it yielded. Somehow, that disdain made a ‘us-vs-them’ mentality, rather than service from the heart. Not easy…
As you’ve mentioned, when we have been honing our creation, building our vision, and pouring our blood/sweat/tears and putting our 1000% in our work… Then out of the blue, someone that has preconceived thought comes in, and takes judgmental brushstrokes at our creation- It’s hard not to take it personal.
All things considered, you treated that person fair. I also used to make the staff chuckle repeating what one of the yelp elites said to us “- Why is Ramen $14? I could just go to the corner bodega and buy a Maruchan for $0.99?! And they don’t even make Tonkatsu broth like they do at Ippudo.”
Those people will be perfectly content with the bodega candy bar or the Maruchan. Probably even like it more. Funny how that kind of site had more power over small businesses than large corporations. Kind of love that it has no real power now.
